SkillShare

Skillshare is another great online learning platform that caters to a wide variety of topics or industries from business acumen to fitness.

However, it’s main focus seems to be in Creative and Visual topics such as art, crafts, photography, UX (User Experience), motion graphics and design.

They actually have some major influencers on Skillshare such as Gary Vanerchuk for Social Media training & Seth Godin for introducing Content Marketing.

This says a lot when you see these type of industry leaders using Skillshare for their own teaching platform.

The layout is beautiful and fully responsive that allows you to create and design your own specific course layout.

People are able to like and comment on your project also, which simply provides that social aspect to it – helping to improve engagement with your audience.

YouTube

Youtube Website

Youtube is the biggest search engine in the world right now that gives you the opportunity to connect with your target audience.

Teaching on YouTube can be very successful & more lucrative than you think for teachers – it’s all a matter of building out your following.

You can create your own videos then design, edit and craft it the way you want in YouTube Studio.

This allows you to add images, audio, texts and translations.

It has a very easy-to-use interface that any beginner can use.

Now, in regards to earning potential.

Many people think you get paid by YouTube by how many views you get – this is right, but not exactly.

YouTube pays by how many people ENGAGE with your videos AD’s for more than 30 seconds.

YouTube’s Advertising is managed in the Adwords Platform.

However, it has been reported that YouTube’s CPM is around $7.60. That means you get $7.60 per 1000 views.

Now, look at the image above on the first video for the channel GuitarJamz.

That video has 12 MILLION views!

That could equate to a total of $8,000 for JUST ONE VIDEO!

How popular is YouTube

Learn on YouTube Trend

So I had to go at a more specific search phrase ‘Learn on YouTube’.

You can see the graph tends to take a slight down slope in recent years however this is very minimal and if you go into Youtube you can see that thousands if not millions of people are searching for ways to learn a new skill.

Pricing

Setting up your own channel is totally free where you will be given access to YouTube Studio so you can start creating your own videos.

If you are looking to drive income through your videos you can look into paid advertising.

Paying for keywords in YouTube is relatively less expensive than paying for keywords in Google.

Views cost an average of $0.06 per click on YouTube.

So look at your budget and decide what you can afford to pay per day.

Final Thoughts

So as you can see there a number of excellent online course creation platforms that you can take advantage of.

I myself have tried and tested Teachable and must say that it gives you a fully hosted platform that makes creating your own course an absolute breeze!

The customisation, the easy-to-use interface and payouts are nothing short of incredible.

If you have any questions, please drop me a comment and I’ll be sure to get back to you.

Wow, this is a really good post. I have thought many times about teaching courses online and I believe one can drive a lot of money from teaching but I didn’t know how to start. I’ve heard of Udemy too but they take 50% I think that’s a bit too much even though they have many users and potential students. I’ll try teachable. Is it possible to see which courses are hot in demand on teachable?

    • Ronan says:

      Hi Henderson,

Your totally right, Udemy do take quite a high percentage of your actual sale and all of that time and effort you put in would only get your 50% of the profits.

Teachable is complete custom course creator where you can design your own website that allows you to customise every part to reflect exactly what you teach.

I have book marked your site to follow and see where it can take me

    Thanks

    • Ronan says:

      Hi Jan,

That’s great, I have taught a few courses myself on affiliate marketing and really enjoyed it and still do to this day.

I hope you’re able to find that natural progression too. I feel it just provides meaning when you are able to share and pass on the skills you have learned.

      Thank you
